There is an inscription and some tearing to the title page. Scuffing to rear pastedown, thumb-marking present. Ceasing to gutter. Boards have edge-wear. Text block is shaky. Overall condition: Acceptable.
Anna Sewell’s novel was firstly published in 1877 and it instantly became a huge success. Sewell was very ill while she was writing Black Beauty and she died five months after her only novel was released.
Although Black Beauty is seen as a children’s book, it was actually not intended to be a novel for kids. It portrays the life of a working horse in Victorian England and made people aware of cruel practices such as the use of check rein and blinkers. A heart-warming read with beautiful illustrations.
All antique books will be beautifully gift-wrapped for protection.
