1888, Thirteenth Edition. London, Frederick Warne and Co. Written by Frances Hodgson Burnett, illustrated by Reginald B. Birch. Hardback.

Beautiful edition of Little Lord Fauntleroy. Some fading on spine & cover, some wear, scuffing and age spotting. In good condition for its 134 years.

The British writer Frances Eliza Hodgson Burnett also wrote A Little Princess & The Secret Garden. Little Lord Fauntleroy was firstly published as a serial in St. Nicholas Magazine between November 1885 and October 1886. This children’s book even had an impact on fashion! Burnett’s description of the Fauntleroy suit combined with Reginald Birch’s lovely illustrations influenced the way in which American kids dressed. Cedric, the protagonist of the much-loved classic, and his mother travel to England as Cedric’s grandfather, the Earl of Dorincourt, wants his only grandson to be educated in England. The charming “rag to riches” story about family relations was a huge success. Burnett also went on to write a theatrical adaptation of Little Lord Fauntleroy. Have you ever seen the heart-warming film version from 1980?
