Exiting new discoveries
1. Newly released The Smeds and The Smoos by Julia Donaldson
Age group: 2- 6 years
Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Sheffler newest collaboration takes our little ones to space! The Smeds and the Smoos is a truly quirky rhyming book!
After getting slightly bored in the Wurpular Wood, Young Bill (a very blue Smoo-Alien) meets Janet (a red Smoo-Alien).
Unfortunately Bill and Janet's families do not want them to spend time together. Thus, Bill and Janet decide to meet up in secret. After a while, the couple wants to get married but unsurprisingly, the families do not support their love.
There might be a way out of it all: Perhaps Janet's grandfather's rocket will take them far away into space.
2. Newly released The Girl Who Speaks Bear by Sophie Anderson
Age group: 9-12 years.
Sophie Anderson is the bestselling author of the fantastic novel The House with Chicken Legs.
Yanka had an adventurous start in life. When she was only a little baby, she was found in a bear cave. Although her foster mother Mamochka had taken good care of her, Yanka often wonders about her real family and origin.
After some strange things occur, Yanka leaves the village to find her family. The Girl Who Speaks Bear is a magical quest filled with adventure and mystery.
3. Newly released Nuts! by Lou Peacock
Age group: 0-3 year.
4. Coming out soon! Toto the Ninja Cat and the Superstar Catastrophe by Dermot O'Leary
Toto the Ninja Cat and the Superstar Catastrophe (Book 3) by Dermot O'Leary will be released this month!
If your wee one hasn't heard of Toto before, then she or he has to start with Toto the Ninja Cat and the Great Snake Escape (Book 1), which is Toto's first ninja adventure. The entire Toto series is fantastic! Toto's quests will also encourage the most reluctant readers to read.
5. Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney
Age group: 2-5 years.
Originally published in 1988, Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney is a true classic. It was translated into 57 languages!
Little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare try to express how much they love one another. The watercolour illustration are absolutely beautiful!
6. Mog the forgetful cat by Judith Kerr
Age group: 2- 5 years.
One of my favourite picture books! Mog the Forgetful Cat by Judith Kerr is a true classic! Mog isn't the brightest cat and she is rather forgetful. Nonetheless she is much loved by everyone (especially after she scares a burglar that entered her family's house)! Mog began her journey in the 1970s and she is still as popular as ever today!
